Distribution: Mediterranean, Atlantic coast of northwestern Africa.

Habitat: Coastal caves, sea caves.

Size: 85cm to 110 cm. They are between 300 kg and 320 kg in weight.

Shape: Long slender body, with flat, small head, nostrils face upward. Two pairs of retractable abdominal teats.

Did you know: Mediterranean monk seals belong to the most endangered mammals with currently far less than a thousand of that species estimated to be alive.
