Our Field Research Station

Known as Bruce’s Lower Farm the quiet and comfortable Field Station is the ideal base for research.

Located within the Upper Rock Nature Reserve of Gibraltar it gives visitors an extraordinary view over the Bay of Gibraltar to Spain and Morocco. Built in 1899 Bruce's Farm now offers spacious rooms, kitchen facilities, laboratory facilities, computers and wireless internet connections. During your stay we can arrange talks from local experts on Gibraltar's rich wildlife and give advice whenever it’s needed.

We’ve had students and researchers of many disciplines including: marine biology, anthropology, art and botany to name but a few. We have also helped many students to complete their dissertations and theses. All of which were collaborations between their university, their tutor, ourselves and the student.

The fees for staying at Bruce’s Farm are £20 per night which goes to the upkeep of Bruce's Lower Farm, carried out by the Helping Hand Trust and the Natural Trust of History.

If you’re considering carrying out research in Gibraltar and wish to book accommodation or inquire about using our facilities then please contact us.
