Fishing within Gibraltar's territorial waters at a commercial level is no longer practised; this is reflected in Gibraltar's Nature Protection Ordinance of 1991. Net fishing, pot fishing and long line fishing are banned, as are any kinds of fishing while using an underwater self contained breathing apparatus (SCUBA). Within the ordinance there are many species that have greater protection than found in EU directives.

The children of today will create the future of tomorrow. The Helping Hand Trust aims to create awareness and knowledge about our environment and the dangers it is exposed to. On request we visit schools and youth clubs or take respective groups on outings so that they can experience local wildlife for themselves.
